'This is an IRL Hallmark movie villain arc': Scrooge landlord raises rent before Christmas after LA lifts ban on rent increases

Much as it's supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year, it's no secret that Christmas can be a financial struggle for many. For those who celebrate, this can mean that the pressure to entertain and give gifts ends up bringing more strife than joy. This is part of the reason that generosity and charity are meant to be such a huge part of Christmastime.

Someone needs to remind the landlords of Los Angeles about this, as it looks like they forgot that this was an important lesson of the festive season. One anonymous property owner faced criticism on Twitter recently for sending out an email to notify their tenants that they were going to be gifted with a rent increase.

Explaining the move as a response to the city of LA lifting a ban, people were not impressed by this behavior. You would think they could at least wait until 2024.
